With the objective of evaluating the effect of foliar biostimulants on the onion crop and measuring their impact on the commercial yield of the crop, a study was carried out in the Pampas de Villacuri in the city of Ica, using a completely randomized design (DBCA) with five biostimulant products as treatments, among them were algae extracts, amino acids, cytokinins + auxins, brassinosteroids and a trihormonal, a control treatment was also included. In the results of the evaluations, the hormonal biostimulants stood out, having a superior performance in crucial aspects such as yield per hectare, average bulb weight, equatorial diameter, polar diameter, dry matter percentage, bulb pH and bulb firmness. In variables such as dry matter and total soluble solids there was no difference between treatments. The effect on bulb shape was also measured, and the results indicate that biostimulants do favor bulb shape development. These results highlight the importance of considering various characteristics when selecting a biostimulant to optimize onion crop yield and quality. The variability in the results suggests that the choice of biostimulant may depend on the specific crop goals to be achieved, underscoring the need for careful selection to maximize agronomic benefits.
