Resumen
El presente estudio tuvo como objetivo determinar cuál es la percepción de la función visual y la
calidad de vida en el adulto mayor sometido a cirugía de cataratas en el Complejo Hospitalario
PNP “Luis N. Sáenz” durante el segundo trimestre del año 2018. Material y métodos: Estudio
descriptivo, de corte transversal, retrospectivo y diseño no experimental, cuya población de
estudio estuvo conformada por todos los pacientes adultos mayores que fueron operados de
cirugía de cataratas; como instrumento de recolección de datos se utilizó el índice de Función
Visual y Cuestionario de Calidad de Vida Relacionada a la Visión - VisQol-15. Resultados: El
análisis muestra que el 65.06% representa el género masculino, mientras que el 34.94% representa
al género femenino, 61.45% tienen entre 60 – 70 años de edad; el 25.30% tienen entre 71 – 80
años de edad y el 13.25% tienen más de 81 años. Asimismo, el estudio muestra que del análisis
preoperatorio el 54.22% tienen una función visual moderada; el 24.10% tienen una mala función
visual; y el 21.69% tienen una buena función visual; y, con respecto al análisis preoperatorio de
la calidad de vida, el 60.24% tienen una incapacidad severa. Conclusiones: el estudio nos permite
determinar que la Percepción de la función visual y calidad de vida posterior a cirugía de catarata
en adultos mayores en el ´Complejo Hospitalario PNP Luis N. Sáenz´, Lima – Perú, durante el
segundo trimestre del año 2018, mejoran en su totalidad, existiendo una confiabilidad aceptable
de correlación con un 0.897 de Alfa de Cronbach.
The objective of this study was to determine the perception of visual function and quality of life in the elderly subjected to cataract surgery at the "Luis N. Sáenz" PNP Hospital Complex during the second quarter of 2018. Material and Methods: Descriptive, cross-sectional, retrospective study and non-experimental design, whose study population was made up of all older adult patients who underwent cataract surgery; The Visual Function Index and Vision-Related Quality of Life Questionnaire - VisQol-15 were used as a data collection instrument. Results: The analysis shows that 65.06% represents the male gender, while 34.94% represents the female gender, 61.45% are between 60 - 70 years of age; 25.30% are between 71 - 80 years of age and 13.25% are over 81 years of age. Likewise, the study shows that from the preoperative analysis, 54.22% have a moderate visual function; 24.10% have poor visual function; and 21.69% have a good visual function; and, regarding the preoperative analysis of quality of life, 60.24% have a severe disability. Conclusions: the study allows us to determine that the Perception of visual function and quality of life after cataract surgery in older adults at the 'PNP Luis N. Sáenz Hospital Complex', Lima - Peru, during the second quarter of 2018, they improve in their entirety, there being an acceptable reliability of correlation with a 0.897 Cronbach's Alpha.
