ambientales.
The objective of this study is to mitigate free cyanide as a potential contaminant contained in the tailings of the Sol de Oro mine. The research is a quantitative study, descriptive level and experimental design, where the independent variable of concentration and residence times are manipulated, to evaluate the removal of CN- which is one of the contaminants of these environmental liabilities. The accumulated tailings of the Sol de Oro mine are located 12 km from the city of Nasca-Ica, a few meters from the Interoceanic Highway, it is estimated at one million tons. To mitigate free cyanide, two degradation techniques have been evaluated, one eliminating CN- with ozone and another option is oxidation degradation with hydrogen peroxide, both methods being efficient in destroying cyanide in percentages greater than 97%, leaving free cyanide with values below 1 ppm of what the environmental standard indicates, in this way it is proposed to mitigate the environmental liabilities of the Sol de Oro Mine at an industrial level, complying with the Maximum Permissible Limits and environmental standards.
