Resumen
El conocimiento adecuado sobre salud bucal en estudiantes de secundaria es fundamental para
el desarrollo de hábitos preventivos que impactan positivamente en su bienestar general.
Durante esta etapa, los adolescentes están en una fase crítica de formación de hábitos de
autocuidado, por lo que la educación en salud bucal no solo previene enfermedades dentales
como caries y periodontitis, sino que también contribuye a mejorar su autoestima y rendimiento
académico. Objetivo: La investigación tuvo por objetivo determinar el nivel de conocimiento
sobre salud bucal y las características sociodemográficas de los estudiantes de la Institución
Educativa “José Olaya Balandra” – Ica, 2023. Materiales y métodos: La investigación fue
cuantitativa, no experimental y descriptiva; la muestra estuvo conformada por 176 del nivel de
secundaria de la Institución Educativa “José Olaya Balandra” de Ica. Los datos se recolectaron
mediante la encuesta y el cuestionario. Resultados: Los resultados de la investigación
evidencian que, el 59% presentó un nivel de conocimiento medio sobre salud bucal; el 27%
presentó un nivel bajo y el 14% presentó un nivel alto. Asimismo, el 60% de los estudiantes
presentó un nivel de conocimiento medio sobre medidas preventivas y el 55% de los estudiantes
presentó un nivel de conocimiento medio sobre enfermedades bucales. Conclusión: Se
concluye que, los estudiantes de la Institución Educativa “José Olaya Balandra” poseen un nivel
de conocimiento medio sobre salud bucal.
Adequate knowledge about oral health in high school students is essential for the development of preventive habits that positively impact their general well-being. During this stage, adolescents are in a critical phase of forming self-care habits, so oral health education not only prevents dental diseases such as cavities and periodontitis, but also contributes to improving their self-esteem and academic performance. Objective: The research aimed to determine the level of knowledge about oral health and the sociodemographic characteristics of the students of the “José Olaya Balandra” Educational Institution – Ica, 2023. Materials and methods: The research was quantitative, non-experimental and descriptive; The sample was made up of 176 secondary school students from the “José Olaya Balandra” Educational Institution in Ica. The data was collected through the survey and questionnaire. Results: The results of the research show that 59% presented a medium level of knowledge about oral health; 27% presented a low level and 14% presented a high level. Likewise, 60% of the students presented a medium level of knowledge about preventive measures and 55% of the students presented a medium level of knowledge about oral diseases. Conclusion: It is concluded that the students of the “José Olaya Balandra” Educational Institution have a medium level of knowledge about oral health.
