| dc.description.abstract | Objective: To determine whether there is an association between facial biotype and residual ridge morphology in edentulous patients attending the dental clinic during the 2025-1 semester. Material and Methods: A basic, relational-level study with a non-experimental, cross-sectional design was conducted. The sample consisted of 60 edentulous patients who attended theOdontoland clinic in Nasca. Data collection wascarried out using a datarecording form, clinical examination, and auxiliary procedures such as maxillary impressions, in order to assess facial biotype and residual ridge morphology. Results: The findings show that the majority of edentulous patients (40%) presented a dolichofacial type, and 43.3% exhibited an ovoid shape. Furthermore, the chi-quare test revealed statistically significant differences between sex and facial biotype level in edentulous patients (p-value = 0.002),but no significant differences between age and facial biotype level (p-value = 0.187). Regardingresidual ridge morphology, no significant differences were found in relation to sex (although with a borderline tendency, p-value = 0.060) ora ge (p-value = 0.995). Finally, no statistically significant association was found between facial biotype and residual ridge morphology in edentulous patients attending the Odontoland-Nasca clinic (χ² = 20.215; df = 4; p = 0.0531). Conclusion: It was concluded that there is no statistically significant association between facial biotype and residual ridge morphology in the edentulous patients evaluated. Although some descriptive trends were observed between the two variables, these were not sufficient to establish a statistically significant relationship. | |
