Condición periodontal y necesidad de tratamiento en mujeres embarazadas del Centro Salud Ocucaje, 2024

Abstract

Durante el embarazo, las mujeres experimentan cambios hormonales significativos que tienen un impacto directo en su salud bucodental. La gingivitis asociada al embarazo es una condición común que afecta a un gran porcentaje de mujeres gestantes, caracterizada por enrojecimiento, sangrado y sensibilidad en las encías. El estudio tuvo por Objetivo: “Determinar la relación entre la condición periodontal y la necesidad de tratamiento en mujeres embarazadas del Centro Salud Ocucaje, 2024”. Material y métodos: Investigación observacional, de diseño no experimental, relacional, prospectiva y transversal, con una muestra de 77 mujeres gestantes que se atienden en el centro de salud Ocucaje con los instrumentos de una ficha de recolección de datos de los índices periodontales denominado Índice periodontal comunitario modificado (CPIm) y necesidad de tratamiento denominado Índice de necesidad de tratamiento periodontal (INTPC) obteniéndose como Resultados: El grupo predominante es el gingivitis con 52/77 gestantes de las cuales todas tienen una necesidad de tratamiento baja, así mismo, el menos predominante es el de sanos con 2/77 gestantes de las cuales comparten con 1 gestante los grupos sin necesidad de tratamiento y tratamiento bajo. Conclusiones: Existe una relación positiva y significativamente fuerte con un p valor de 0.674 entre la condición periodontal y la necesidad de tratamiento. Estos hallazgos subrayan la importancia de implementar programas preventivos y terapéuticos específicos que consideren tanto la condición periodontal como las características individuales de las mujeres embarazadas, con el fin de mejorar su salud bucodental y reducir los riesgos asociados durante el embarazo.

During pregnancy, women experience significant hormonal changes that have a direct impact on their oral health. Pregnancy-associated gingivitis is a common condition affecting a large percentage of pregnant women, characterized by redness, bleeding and tenderness of the gums. The objective of the study was: “To determine the relationship between periodontal condition and the need for treatment in pregnant women at the Ocucaje Health Center, 2024”. Material and methods: Observational research, non-experimental, relational, prospective and transversal design, with a sample of 77 pregnant women who are attended at the Ocucaje health center with the instruments of a data collection form of periodontal indexes called Modified Community Periodontal Index (CPIm) and the need for treatment called Periodontal Treatment Need Index (INTPC), obtaining the following results: The predominant group is gingivitis with 52/77 pregnantwomen of which allhavea lowtreatmentneed, likewise, theleast predominantishealthy with 2/77 pregnant women of which share with 1 pregnant woman the groups with no treatment need and low treatment need. Conclusions: There is a positive and significantly strong relationship with a p value of 0.674 between periodontal condition and the need for treatment. These findings underline the importance of implementing specific preventive and therapeutic programs that consider both the periodontal condition and the individual characteristics of pregnant women, to improve their oral health and reduce the associated risks during pregnancy.
