Nivel de conocimiento en higiene oral y su influencia en gingivitis de madres gestantes atendidas en el centro de salud Capilla de Asia, Cañete-2024

Abstract

La presente investigación tuvo como objetivo determinar la relación entre el nivel de conocimiento en higiene oral y la gingivitis en madres gestantes atendidas en el Centro de Salud Capilla de Asia, Cañete, durante el año 2024. El estudio se desarrolló bajo un enfoque cuantitativo, de tipo prospectivo, con nivel descriptivo–correlacional y diseño no experimental, observacional y transversal. La población y muestra estuvieron conformadas por 58 madres gestantes, seleccionadas mediante muestreo censal. Para la recolección de datos se utilizó un cuestionario estructurado para evaluar el nivel de conocimiento en higiene oral, elaborado por Espinoza López, y el Índice Gingival de Löe y Silness para determinar el nivel de gingivitis. El análisis de los datos se realizó mediante estadística descriptiva e inferencial, empleándose el coeficiente de correlación Rho de Spearman con un nivel de significancia de 0.05. Los resultados evidenciaron una relación estadísticamente significativa y de dirección negativa muy alta entre el nivel de conocimiento en higiene oral y la gingivitis (Rho = −0.912; p = 0.000), observándose que la mayoría de las gestantes presentó niveles bajo y medio de conocimiento, así como una elevada frecuencia de gingivitis moderada y severa. Se concluye que existe una relación significativa entre el nivel de conocimiento en higiene oral y la gingivitis en madres gestantes, lo que resalta la importancia de fortalecer las acciones educativas en salud bucal durante el embarazo

The objective of this research was to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge of oral hygiene and gingivitis in pregnant women attended at the Capilla de Asia Health Center, Cañete, in 2024. The study followed a quantitative, prospective approach, with a descriptive–correlational level and a non-experimental, observational, cross-sectional design. The population and sample consisted of 58 pregnant women, selected through census sampling. Data collection was carried out using a structured questionnaire to assess the level of knowledge of oral hygiene, developed by Espinoza López, and the Löe and Silness Gingival Index to determine the level of gingivitis. Data analysis included descriptive and inferential statistics, applying Spearman’s Rho correlation coefficient with a significance level of 0.05. The results showed a statistically significant and very high negative relationship between the level of knowledge of oral hygiene and gingivitis (Rho = −0.912; p = 0.000), with most participants presenting low and medium levels of knowledge and a high frequency of moderate and severe gingivitis. It is concluded that there is a significant relationship between the level of knowledge of oral hygiene and gingivitis in pregnant women, highlighting the importance of strengthening oral health education during pregnancy
