Abstract
A muchas especies vegetales se le atribuye algunas propiedades medicinales, las cuales quizás son diferentes o similares en diversas regiones de nuestro país, a la especie Capparis Ovalifolia se le atribuyen usos en la medicina tradicional en forma de cataplasma para los dolores musculares, sarpullidos, dislocaciones; sin embargo, muchas de estas propiedades atribuidas en algunos casos a través de los años carecen de estudios o bases científicas que permitan verificar o certificar las mismas. Por lo que nuestra investigación se realizó para dar un sustento científico al uso de esta especie, el objetivo primordial de nuestra investigación fue determinar la presencia de componentes químicos a través del estudio fitoquímico, la concentración de la actividad antioxidante y la caracterización fisicoquímica del extracto etanólico de las partes aéreas de Capparis Ovalifolia proveniente del Caserío de Tingue, distrito de Yauca del Rosario, provincia y departamento de Ica, en cuyo lugar es conocida comúnmente como: “guayabito de los gentiles”.
El extracto fue obtenido por maceración en alcohol de 96°, luego se efectuó el tratamiento respectivo para la determinación de metabolitos secundarios por diferentes reacciones, la caracterización fisicoquímica y la determinación de la capacidad antioxidante. Se concluye que dicho extracto contiene un apreciable contenido de humedad y cenizas; presencia de metabolitos secundarios del tipo flavonoides y una apreciable capacidad antioxidante, la cual mediante el método DPPH se obtiene un valor de IC50 = 7,10 mg, por FRAP un valor TEAC= 0,169 mM y por el método ABTS un TEAC= 0,192 mM.

Many plant species are attributed some medicinal properties which may be different or similar in various regions of our country. The species Capparis Ovalifolia is attributed uses in traditional medicine in the form of a poultice for muscle pain, rashes, dislocations; However, many of these properties attributed in some cases over the years lack studies or scientific bases that allow them to be verified or certified. Therefore, our research was carried out to provide scientific support for the use of this species. The primary objective of our research is to determine the presence of chemical components through a phytochemical study, the concentration of antioxidant activity and the physicochemical characterization of the extract. ethanol from the aerial parts of Capparis Ovalifolia from the Caserío de Tingue, district of Yauca del Rosario, province and department of Ica, in which place it is commonly known as: “guayabito de los gentiles”. The extract was obtained by maceration in 96° alcohol, then the respective treatment was carried out for the determination of secondary metabolites by different reactions, the physicochemical characterization and the determination of the antioxidant capacity were carried out. It is concluded that said extract contains an appreciable moisture and ash content; presence of secondary metabolites of the flavonoid type and an appreciable antioxidant capacity which by the DPPH method a value of IC50 = 7.10 mg is obtained, by FRAP a value TEAC = 0.169 mM and by the ABTS method a TEAC = 0.192 mM.
