metabolitos secundarios: Taninos, flavonoides y alcaloides.
The general objective of this research was to determine the relationship between the phytochemical study and antioxidant activity of Psidium guajava L. bark and leaf. Methods: An ethanolic extract was prepared by maceration for a period of 7 days with 96 ° ethanol, which was then taken to dryness in order to perform a phytochemical screening, for the determination of secondary metabolites, method proposed by Olga Lock, also for the evaluation of antioxidant activity were used the DPPH methods in which the percentage of inhibition was determined to find the corresponding IC50; and the ABTS method, trolox was used as a reference standard. Results: The phytochemical screening determined that the bark of Psidium guajava L. presents secondary metabolites: tannins, flavonoids and alkaloids. The leaves contain: Tannins, flavonoids, triterpenes/steroids, anthraquinones, alkaloids and sesquiterpene lactones, to determine the antioxidant of the leaf by the DPPH method presents an IC50 of 0.572 mg/mL, the bark extract obtained an IC50 of 8.206 mg/mL. For the ABTS method 1 mg of Psidium guajava L. leaf extract is equivalent to 2.84 mM trolox, in case of the bark it is equivalent to 0.357 mM trolox. Conclusions: Psidium guajava L. species presents secondary metabolites that can be related to its antioxidant activity found in the bark and leaf.
