To determine the risk factors associated with cardioembolic phenomena and the presence of atrial fibrillation in the Regional Hospital of Ica 2022-2023. The research was non-experimental, cross-sectional, retrospective, and with a sample of 45 clinical records reviewed. The results indicate that non-modifiable risk factors for atrial fibrillation, such as sex, which was predominant in the female sex with 57.7% compared to the male sex with 42.3%; with respect to age, patients who were in a range of 65-74 years were 60% followed by patients over 74 years with 24.5%; among the modifiable risk factors, it was headed by arterial hypertension with 75.5% followed by type 2 diabetes mellitus with 60% Non-modifiable risk factors for atrial fibrillation such as age and sex, predispose a potential risk of triggering a cardioembolic phenomenon, but it is not evident that by themselves they are sufficient to develop the disease, but these must be conditioned by other enhancing factors.
