Resumen
Determinar la prevalencia de la automedicación con antibióticos en niños menores de
6 años que asisten a la Institución Educativa “Señor de Luren”, Ica - 2023.
Material y método: Estudio de enfoque cuantitativo, no experimental, transversal y exploratorio.
La muestra fue de 177 madres de niños menores de 6 años, quienes desarrollaron un cuestionario
de 12 preguntas que sirvieron para medir el nivel de conocimiento sobre antibióticos y la
prevalencia de automedicación. Se realizó un análisis estadístico de tipo descriptivo con
frecuencias y porcentajes. Se evaluaron correlaciones con Chi- Cuadrado de Pearson entre
factores sociodemográficos.
Resultados: De las 177 madres, el rango de edad más prevalente fue entre los 27 a 30 (46,9%),
con estudios superiores universitarios (70,1%). La prevalencia de automedicación con
antibióticos, fue de un 46,3%; mientras que, con respecto al nivel de conocimiento, fue: excelente
(83,1%), regular (16,9%) y deficiente (0,0%). Como dato relevante, se evidenció asociación
directa entre el nivel de conocimiento y la automedicación con antibióticos en niños menores de
6 años que asisten a la Institución Educativa “Señor de Luren”, Ica – 2023, considerando un pvalor (0,000).
Conclusión: Existe una prevalencia del 46,3% sobre automedicación con antibióticos en niños
menores de 6 años, con un excelente nivel de conocimiento sobre antibióticos por parte de las
madres, en la Institución Educativa “Señor de Luren”, Ica – 2023

Material and method: Study with a quantitative, non-experimental, cross-sectional and exploratory approach. The sample was 177 mothers of children under 6 years of age, who developed a 12-question questionnaire that was used to measure the level of knowledge about antibiotics and the prevalence of self-medication. A descriptive statistical analysis was carried out with frequencies and percentages. Correlations were evaluated with Pearson's Chi-Square between sociodemographic factors. Results: Of the 177 mothers, the most prevalent age range was between 27 and 30 (46.9%), with higher education (70.1%). The prevalence of self-medication with antibiotics was 46.3%; while, with respect to the level of knowledge, it was: excellent (83.1%), average (16.9%) and poor (0.0%). As relevant data, a direct association was evident between the level of knowledge and self-medication with antibiotics in children under 6 years of age who attend the “Señor de Luren” Educational Institution, Ica – 2023, considering a p-value (0.000).
