Determine the main risk factors for treatment failure of iron deficiency anemia in children under 5 years of age in the Joven Señor de Luren village health center 2023 Methodology: analytical, case-control, retrospective. Results: acute malnutrition (OR=4.295; 95%CI:1.727 - 10.684, p=0.001), prematurity (OR=4.182; 95%CI:1.297 - 13.487, p=0.011), low birth weight (OR=3.143; 95%CI:1.138 - 8.682, p=0.023), non-exclusive breastfeeding before 6 months (OR=2.799; 95%CI:1.237 - 6,335.024, p=0.012), being a teenage mother (OR=7.260; 95%CI:2.003 - 26.313, p=0.001), the mother's low educational level (OR=4.182; 95% CI:1.297 - 13.487, p=0.011) and anemia in pregnancy (OR=3.267; 95% CI:1.478 - 7.221, p=0.003), are risk factors for treatment failure of iron deficiency anemia in children under 5 years of age. Conclusions: We identified that the main risk factors for failure of iron deficiency anemia treatment in children under 5 years of age are: acute malnutrition, prematurity, low birth weight, non-exclusive breastfeeding before 6 months, being a teenage mother, low educational level of the mother and anemia during pregnancy.
