Determine the in vitro antibacterial activity of the ethanolic extract of the leaves of Bixa orellana (L) against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. Methodology: It was carried out using the disk diffusion method (Kirby Bauer Method). The ethanolic extract of the leaves of Bixia orellana (L) was obtained through the maceration technique for 48 hours. Results: the statistical analysis using the ANOVA test (Analysis of Variance) shows a significance level of 0.000 (p < 0.05), therefore it is concluded that there is a significant difference between the average diameters of the inhibition zones revealed. by the antibacterial activity of the ethanolic extract of the leaves of Bixa orellana (L) at different concentrations against the strains studied. The TUKEY analysis revealed that the Escherichia coli strains presented greater susceptibility (20 mm) against the ethanolic extract of the 100% Bixa orellana (L) leaves unlike the Staphylococcus aureus bacteria with lower susceptibility (15 mm). The 100% ethanolic extract of Bixa orellana (L) leaves showed a moderately active inhibitory effect on Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli strains.
