Conocimiento sobre salud bucal y características sociodemográficas de los estudiantes de la Institución Educativa “Horacio Zeballos Gamez” – Chincha, 2025

Abstract

Es fundamental que los estudiantes de secundaria adquieran conocimientos de salud bucal para desarrollar hábitos preventivos. Esto no solo previene enfermedades dentales, sino que también mejora su autoestima y rendimiento académico. Objetivo: La investigación tuvo por objetivo determinar el nivel de conocimiento sobre salud bucal y las características sociodemográficas de los estudiantes de la Institución Educativa “Horacio Zeballos Gamez” – Ica, 2025. Materiales y métodos: La investigación fue no experimental, descriptiva y trasversal; la muestra estuvo conformada por 112 estudiantes del nivel de secundaria. Los datos se recolectaron mediante un cuestionario. Resultados: El 66% de los estudiantes presentó un nivel de conocimiento medio sobre salud bucal; el 23% presentó un nivel bajo y el 11% presentó un nivel alto. Asimismo, el 64% de los estudiantes presentó un nivel de conocimiento medio sobre medidas preventivas, el 60% de los estudiantes presentó un nivel de conocimiento medio sobre enfermedades bucales; y el 66% de los estudiantes presentó un nivel de conocimiento medio sobre higiene bucal. Conclusión: Se concluye que, los estudiantes de la Institución Educativa “Horacio Zeballos Gamez” poseen un nivel de conocimiento medio sobre salud bucal.

It is essential for high school students to acquire oral health knowledge to develop preventive habits. This not only prevents dental diseases but also improves their self-esteem and academic performance. Objective: The research aimed to determine the level of oral health knowledge and the sociodemographic characteristics of students at the "Horacio Zeballos Gamez" Educational Institution in Ica, 2025. Materials and methods: The study was non-experimental, descriptive, and cross-sectional; the sample consisted of 112 high school students. Data were collected using a questionnaire. Results: 66% of the students had an average level of knowledge about oral health; 23% had a low level, and 11% had a high level. Furthermore, 64% of the students had an average level of knowledge about preventive measures, 60% of the students had an average level of knowledge about oral diseases, and 66% of the students had an average level of knowledge about oral hygiene. Conclusion: It is concluded that students at the Horacio Zeballos Gamez Educational Institution have an average level of knowledge about oral health.
