Estudio cuantitativo, descriptivo. Diseño no experimental,
retrospectivo.
Objective. To investigate the pharmacological clinical management of dengue infection with warning signs in the clinical surveillance unit of the Regional Hospital of Ica, 2024. Methodological strategy. Quantitative, descriptive study. Non-experimental, retrospective design. Fifty prescriptions and related documents of patients with dengue infection with warning signs attended at the Clinical Surveillance Unit (UVICLIN) of the Regional Hospital of Ica were analyzed. Technique: document analysis. Results and conclusions. Of the patients with warning signs treated at UVICLIN, 54% were male, slightly higher than the proportion of female patients (46%), with a male-to-female ratio of 1.17:1. Young adults (42%) and adults (36%) accounted for 78% of the total cases, with a mean age of 35.98 years. Hospitalization was required in only 14% of cases. In all cases, laboratory tests included electrolyte and hematocrit determinations; arterial blood gas analysis was requested in 52% of cases. Liver and renal function specific tests were required in a smaller proportion: 14% and 16%, respectively. A total of 49 pharmaceutical presentations were prescribed, including intravenous electrolytes and fluids, antiemetics, antipyretics and analgesics, gastric secretion inhibitors, gastroprotective agents, bronchodilators, critical care support medications, and antibacterials.
