nivel correlacional y diseño no experimental.
The current investigation is entitled: Geotechnical zoning to reduce seismic risk in buildings in the urban area of the San Juan Bautista - Ica district. Objective: Demonstrate that geotechnical zoning influences the reduction of seismological risk in buildings in the urban area of the San Juan Bautista - Ica district. Methodical: it was of the applied type - cross-sectional, correlational level and non-experimental design. In the geological study, the INGEMMET maps were used, then the CENEPRED tables to examine the seismological risk. In the geotechnical analysis, 13 pits of 1mx 2m x 3m were excavated, the samples were examined in the soil laboratory. In the seismic hazard, the seismic history and the E.030 seismic resistant design standard for the seismological indicators were used. Finally, the tables of the CENEPRED manual were used. The vulnerability was carried out for adobe houses and confined construction homes of 1 and 2 floors, then the method proposed by CENEPRED was used, and finally, the level of risk was determined. Results: From the geological study and the seismological danger, the high level of danger was obtained with a value of 0.219 within the range 0.134≤ R ≤ 0.260. On the other hand, a high vulnerability was obtained with a value of 0.176, within the range of 0.134 ≤ R < 0.260, from the study a higher level of risk was obtained with a value of 0.068, being within the range 0.068 ≤ R < 0.253.
