This report for professional sufficiency consisted of the start-up, assembly and transfer of the SIEMENS brand multi-slice tomograph model Somaton Definition AS – 64 lines to be installed at the San José de Chincha Hospital, with the aim of being able to perform a much more accurate diagnosis accurate and know the severity of COVID-19 pneumonia The demand for a computed tomography machine in the province of Chincha was due to an exponential increase in COVID-19 cases reported in this city according to DIRESA ICA (March 2023) [1], due to this, the objective of this report was the installation of the multi-slice tomograph whose purpose was to reduce the mortality rate while waiting for a vaccine for this disease and thus improve the quality of care in the public health sector. This tomograph allows patients to take certain preventive measures while the COVID-19 viral process lasted. At the San José de Chincha Hospital, a SIEMENS brand Somaton Defintion AS tomograph has been installed in accordance with quality standards, according to Technical Health Standard No. 113 – MINSA/DGIEM-V01, complying with technical standards to guarantee correct operation and thus avoid overexposure of X-ray radiation to both patients and equipment operators. Given that the use of radioactive sources in medical equipment for diagnosis and treatment implies the exposure of patients, personal doctors and the general public, the IPEN has approved Technical Standard IR.002.2012 through Presidential Resolution 048 12-IPEN /PRES. This standard establishes the necessary measures to control and reduce said risk to a minimum.
