Dengue is an infectious disease caused by the bite of the Aedes aegypti mosquito, affecting mainly children and the elderly, so educational interventions are essential to raise knowledge on the subject in the school population. Objective: To determine the effectiveness of the educational intervention in the knowledge about dengue prevention, in sixth grade students of the Juan Pablo II educational institution of Subtanjalla, Ica 2024. Material and methods: Quantitative - longitudinal, applicative and pre - experimental study with pre and posttest test, applying a questionnaire validated in the national context, and imparting an educational intervention with significant learning. Results: In the pretest (before executing the educational intervention) the knowledge about dengue in the students was medium level with 78.3%, as well as in the generalities and transmission dimensions 51.7%, vectors 41.7%, symptomatology 61.7% and preventive measures 60.0%. In the posttest (after imparting the educational intervention), knowledge was significantly improved to a high level in 88.3% of the students, as well as in the four dimensions evaluated (86.7%, 81.7%, 95.0% and 88.3% respectively). The Student T test demonstrated the effectiveness of the educational intervention (p = 0.000), as well as in the four dimensions of knowledge. Conclusions: It was proven that there is significant effectiveness of the educational intervention in knowledge about dengue prevention, in sixth grade students of the Juan Pablo II educational institution in Subtanjalla, Ica 2024.
