OBJETIVE Evaluate the antimicrobial capacity of the ethanolic extract obtained from the postharvest leaves of Solanum lycopersicum against the bacteria Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. METHODOLOGY The methodology used in this research work was basic, descriptive and experimental, with the population being the post-harvest tomato leaves, and the sample being 2 kg of the same. RESULTS Secondary metabolites that present a powerful antioxidant activity were found within the phytochemical characterization; the formation of halos was greater in the 75% concentrations of the ethanolic extracts. CONCLUSION It is concluded that the post-harvest leaves of Solanum lycopersicum present an antimicrobial activity present in the ethanolic extract of 75% of the leaves.
